Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I’m Corri.

My Daughter Wanted Klobuchar

My Daughter Wanted Klobuchar

My daughter wanted Klobuchar.

She’s seven.

She didn’t really want Klobuchar, per se. What she wanted was the candidate that reminded her most of herself.

She didn’t care that Biden was Vice President when she was born. She didn’t feel the Bern. She was unimpressed by Bloomberg’s billions.

She wanted the chance to see herself in the next President of the United States.

I recently overheard an adolescent boy tell a group of his peers that the “r” in the word women stands for “rights”. When one of the two girls in the group chimed in to say that there was no “r” in women, he smirked.

“Exactly”, he said.

He is the next generation of Presidents.

If you woke up feeling discouraged today, I want to remind you of two things:

1) Women are the majority of Americans, and

2) Women are the majority of voters.

•••

I’m raising my daughter to know her rights. And her power.

My daughter is the next generation of Presidents, too.

Today I cried.

But I’m putting yesterday in the rear view mirror, because there’s just too much damn work to do.

You with me?
